Residential Snow Plowing Handles the Driveway, While Smaller Areas Need Different Equipment
For most residential properties, I use snow plowing for the driveway and snow blowers or hand clearing for walks, steps, and tighter areas that a plow cannot reach.
Driveway Snow Plowing
The driveway is cleared with plowing equipment when the layout, surface, parked vehicles, and snow stacking areas allow it. Snow is pushed to approved areas on the property rather than hauled away.
Walks, Steps, and Tight Areas
Front walks, steps, sidewalk sections, and other smaller spaces are handled separately with snow blowers or hand tools when those areas are included in the agreement.
Service Begins Based on Accumulation, Not the First Flake
My standard residential trigger is 2 inches of snowfall. That keeps the service tied to measurable accumulation instead of dispatching for every dusting.
Short Snow Events
When a storm reaches the trigger and ends in a normal window, I work the route based on actual accumulation, road conditions, route order, and safe operating conditions.
Long or Heavy Snow Events
A long storm may require an opening pass followed by additional clearing. The exact approach depends on accumulation rate, wind, drifting, temperature, and how much snow has fallen since the previous pass.
Why I Do Not Promise an Exact Arrival Time During a Storm
Snow routes change with storm duration, traffic, road conditions, equipment conditions, municipal plowing, and how long each property takes to clear.

A fast 4 inch snowfall creates a different route than 4 inches spread across most of a day.

When storms overlap or snow continues for many hours, earlier properties may need another pass before the event is completely finished.

Route speed depends on whether roads are merely snowy, deeply covered, icy, or restricted by active plow operations.

Move vehicles out of the approved clearing area when possible. I cannot clear snow underneath or through a parked vehicle.

Keep containers out of the driveway and walkway clearing path.
Holiday Decorations
Keep cords, stakes, decorations, and low items away from the edges of areas that need to be cleared.
Toys and Portable Items
Remove sleds, toys, hoses, tools, and other loose items before accumulation hides them.
Gate Access
If a walkway or area behind a gate is included, the gate needs to remain accessible and operable.
Property Changes
Tell me about new cars, temporary storage, construction, or anything else that changes the approved clearing path.
Where the Snow Goes Matters
I need usable stacking space on the property. Snow removal normally means moving snow to an approved area on site, not hauling it away.
Driveway Entrance
The Village recommends placing driveway snow on the parkway to the right side of the driveway as you face the street because that can reduce the amount pushed back into the driveway by municipal plows.

Libertyville prohibits moving snow from private property into prohibited public right of way areas, including the traveled portion of public streets and public sidewalks.
